T Harish Rao - the Telangana minister, Padma Devender Reddy - Assembly Deputy Speaker, the contesting candidates K Prabhakar Reddy (TRS), T Jayaprakash Reddy (BJP) and V Sunita Laxma Reddy (Congress) were among the prominent persons who exercised their franchise in Medak.
Gangapur villagers boycotted the by-poll protesting the non-setting up of a polling booth in their village.
Same as in Peddapur under Veldurthi mandal villagers also boycotted the election protesting lack of proper roads to their village and neglect in undertaking other development works.
Meanwhile, Senior officials have visited the village to persuade the villagers to give up their boycott and take part in the polling.
As officials had to replace snag-hit Electronic Voting Machines, polling process was delayed by a few minutes in three-four polling booths.
Rahul Bojja, the returning Officer for Medak Lok Sabha constituency, said polling was continuing peacefully across the seven Assembly segments.
By-poll is being held in Nandigama in Andhra Pradesh due to death of MLA-elect Tangirala Prabhakar of the TDP and his daughter is now contesting the election against Congress' B Babu Rao.
