Do you feel tired, sluggish or unbalanced. Do you have health issues, skin problems, digestive issues etc. If the answers to these questions are YES then may be its time to detoxify your body. Yes that's right, its time to get of all the toxins from your body.

Toxins are any substance that cause harm to our body. Detoxification (or Detox for short) is the process of removal of these toxins from our body. Our body is subjected to more than 10,000 toxins everyday. There are toxins in the air we breathe, the water we drink and in fact its almost everywhere. Some toxins take immediate effects on our body and show their effects in the form of allergies, skin irritation,breathing problems and digestive issues etc. Some others take their time and cause adverse effects like Cancer, respiratory damage, Asthma, Bronchitis etc.

Detoxing your body is one of the most easiest ways to stay healthy. We need to remove the toxins that have already been introduced and also we must avoid introducing new ones to our body.

Starting with the basics these are some things you can do to detoxify your body:

Step -1 : Drink Plenty of water.
Diluting toxins might be the first step to removing toxins present in your stomach. Drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses a day). Water can flush out the toxins in your body by helping your kidneys to function properly. Water enriches your skin, thus keeping your skin healthy and make you look young. Start you day by drinking a glass of water on empty stomach. Take a glass of water with each and every meal you have, even snacks. You can also eat fruits/vegetables that are rich in water content like watermelons, cucumber, tomatoes etc.

Step -2: Choose a healthy balanced food diet.
Most of the toxins enter our body through the food we eat. If we control the food we eat, we can control the toxins entering our body.

A. Eat more fibre.
Fibre is an essential element for maintaining our digestive system, it has natural cleansing properties thus it can get rid of toxins and other impurities from your body. Rice, whole-grain cereals, oats, almonds, beans and lentils are really good sources of fibre. Include these in your daily meals.

B. Avoid Coffee and Alcohol.
You may not be able to start your day without coffee but you should definitely avoid coffee and alochol during cleansing. The toxins contained in coffee and alcohol can damage your liver and kidneys and abrupt our natural toxin cleansing system. Coffee is often sprayed with pesticides, insecticides and herbicides while growing. Even after heavy cleansing of the coffee beans, the traces of these toxins remain. Try Green Tea instead of coffee in the morning. It has many healthy anti-oxidants that an help to get rid of toxins.
Alochols such as rum, whiskey, beer and red wines contain congeners( a toxin produced as a by-product of fermentation). Alcohols also produce a toxin called acetaldehyde when it metabolizes in the body. So you should definitely avoid alcohol and coffee.

C. Reduce Intake of Simple Carbohydrates.
Simple carbohydrate foods such as bread, white rice and pasta are devoid of vitamins and nutrients. These food may fill your stomach but have no nutrient benefits to your body. Switch to high fibre foods and complex carbohydrates like whole-grain bread, cereals, potatoes and brown rice. These food can help to get out the build-up of toxins left behind by simple carbohydrates.

D. Eat Organic Food Products.
Try to always buy food products, fruits and vegetables grown organically without the use of synthetic pesticide, insecticide, fertilizers etc. By eating organic food products you can limit the intake of toxins added up from their inorganic counterparts. Though you may reduced some toxins, there are still toxins present in organic food as well which are harmful or even carcinogenic.

Step-3 : Limiting Lifestyle
Our lifestyle choices have a significant impact on our health. Some of our lifestyle choices are the primary source of toxin input to our body. Our habits, stress and strain have a wide impact on our body. Reducing stress and strain is essential for a healthy life.

A. Stop Smoking.
Smoking introduces toxins like nicotine and around 4000 other toxins into our body. Even after you stop smoking some of these toxins still remain for some time in your body. Our body can flush out these toxins on its own after we stop smoking, you can accelerate he process by drinking plenty of water, eating healthy, fibre-rich foods and getting plenty of exercise..

B. Exercise Regularly.
You must exercise regularly. Its one of ealthiest, most natural ways to cleanse the body. Exercise helps to loose weight thus reducing toxins accumulated in fat cells over the years through perspiration. It improves circulation and digestion, cleansing the body in the most natural way possible

C.Practise Yoga.
Yoga has many health benefits. Just like exercise it can help in weight loss. Also yoga improves our respiratory system, digestive system and adds overall flexibility to our body. Yoga also teaches meditation which can help reduce stress.

D. Try Acupuncture / Massage.
Acupuncture is a form of holistic treatment which works by inserting tiny needles into the skin at pressure points around the body. Acupuncture can help to cleanse the body by targeting pressure points where toxins tend to build up. The toxins are then released, so that they can be naturally flushed out of your system.
Also a good, intense massage can actually help to rid the body of excess toxins. The massage needs to focus on pressure points within the muscles, where toxins have a tendency to accumulate. The deep stimulation of these muscle tissue can actually release the toxins, allowing them to be flushed naturally from the system.

E. Sleep Well.
Get more sleep. Sleep is essential for maintaining normal body function and for living a healthy life. While we sleep our body relaxes, recovers and repairs itself after the daily stress and strains. Get a minimum 7-8 hours of sleep everyday. Sleep deprivation can lead to heart diseases, stress, kidney diseases, high blood pressure and obesity.

Step-4 : Try Fasting.
Fasting is a essential part of Indian culture. It is a very popular method of cleansing our body by cutting out or severely limiting your body's intake of food, while simultaneously flushing out your system with high volumes of liquid. The key idea is that our body can start afresh - renewed and cleansed after everything has been removed from the system. Try fasting for a day or two.

Step - 5: Get Fresh Air.
Go for a trip to a less polluted place. Spending time in natural outdoors can help your body overall physically and mentally. The clean air, natural grass and fresh environment can help to reset our natural clocks, get rid of our stress and strains.
