Pregnant women are very keen and watchful of labour signs and symptoms close to the due date. But preterm labour is usually caught off guard and it is very important to know the signs that could lead to one, here we enlist few of them.

Menstrual-like Cramps

Low Dull Backache

Labour pains usually start with a low ache in the back. The intensity can vary, but this pain would not go away easily, no matter what you do. If neglected, it would get worse with time. In case you experience such lower back ache before your delivery date, it is wise to get it checked with your gynecologist. Here are five ways in which you can deal with backache during labour.

Increased Pressure In The Lower Abdomen

With preterm labour it is possible to feel a tremendous pressure tearing down the vaginal or pelvic area as if the baby has started pushing down for the delivery to take place immediately.

Diarrhea And Abdominal Pains

This is nature way of helping to clear the systems internally and prepare for the birth to take place. Hence, symptoms like diarrhea or vomiting along with abdominal pains should put you on alert. Here are few things you should never tell a woman when in labour.

Increased Vaginal Discharge

Excessive vaginal discharge or any fluid leakage from the vagina, like spotting, along with other symptoms like abdominal pains, backache and diarrhea could be a sign of early labour too. Also know what excessive vaginal discharge could mean.

Consistent Contractions

Uterine contractions that are just 10 minutes apart and come down with severe abdominal cramps are the most probable symptom of preterm labour.
