New species among snake have discovered from the Himalayas. Chinese scientists have found a new species of brownish pit viper largest scientific study from 1970s on wildlife at Mount Everest.
Genetic studies revealed that the snake is in Protobothrops Himalayanus, a new snake species, which was first spotted at Jilong Valley in southern Tibet Autonomous Region in 2012.
Research team named the snake, Hu Huijian, in honour of its home, the Himalayas.
Hu said, "The discovery provides more evidence of Tibet's biodiversity."
Presently, there are 12 valid species in the genus Protobothrops, of which seven are known to inhabit China and many of them prefer mountain areas at high elevations.
